The role of Shuttle Driver at Performance Foodservice is crucial for the smooth operation of their logistics and foodservice delivery system. This position pays $30.00 per hour plus a $2.00 night shift differential, totaling $32.00 per hour, with a schedule from Sunday through Thursday nights, dispatching at 6 pm until the shift is finished. The job requires a valid CDL A with a doubles endorsement and involves transporting empty trailers to warehouse locations and delivering full trailers to domicile and shuttle yard locations within both intrastate and interstate routes. This role demands adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations ensuring the safe and timely delivery of goods.

As a Shuttle Driver, you will be responsible for comprehensive safety inspections and ensuring that tractor-trailers and trailers meet all safety standards. Your duties will include reporting any safety or repair issues, following all DOT and company driving policies, performing hook/unhook procedures safely, securing loads properly, and maintaining cleanliness of equipment and areas. Critical to this role is also communicating professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, thereby upholding Professional Foodservice's reputation for excellence and safety.

This position requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the physical ability to handle freight cases ranging from 60 to 90 pounds using equipment such as a two-wheeler and lift gate. Additional requirements include passing a pre-employment drug test, a road test, and possessing or obtaining a valid DOT Health Card. The Shuttle Driver helps ensure that the company’s logistics network operates efficiently and continues to support America's foodservice industry with excellence and reliability.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one year or more commercial driving experience
  • valid CDL A with doubles endorsement
  • must be 21 years of age
  • meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
  • work required 3rd shift schedule Sunday through Thursday nights
  • pass pre-employment drug test
  • pass road test
  • valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and other equipment to move and stack product cases and freight of varying size and weight

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • report all safety issues and repairs required
  • follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • ensure all route paperwork is with tractor trailer load and available upon dispatch
  • drive and deliver trailers according to predetermined route schedule
  • perform hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines
  • park and store tractor trailers in designated areas
  • ensure all equipment and freight are securely locked and secured
  • collect and secure damaged goods and customer returns in empty trailer and complete necessary paperwork
  • unload equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required
  • complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log per Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required
  • perform other related duties as assigned
