Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor known for its exceptional relationship-building with various local customers. The company serves a diverse clientele including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The team comprised of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts work closely with customers to provide valuable advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and strategic planning. This close partnership enables Performance Foodservice to go beyond delivering quality food products; it helps independent restaurant owners and other clients achieve their business dreams and operational goals.

Performance Foodservice offers stable and rewarding employment opportunities with competitive pay, comprehensive health and wellness benefits starting from Day 1, opportunities for growth, and a supportive, inclusive workplace culture that emphasizes safety, rewards, recognition, and respect. Drivers employed at Performance Foodservice enjoy local routes that allow them to be home every day, typically working Sunday through Thursday nights with dispatch occurring between 3 pm and 5 pm. The average salary ranges from $80,000 to $85,000 per year, reflecting the importance and value of their role within the company.

The Shuttle Driver position plays a crucial role in Performance Foodservice's operations and the broader food supply chain across the country. Shuttle Drivers are responsible for transporting empty trailers to various operating warehouse locations and delivering full trailers to domicile and shuttle yard locations. This role requires driving a tandem trailer, tractor-trailer, and/or straight truck on both intrastate and interstate routes, ensuring the timely and safe delivery of goods in alignment with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

In this role, the Shuttle Driver becomes the face of the company to many customers, vendors, and colleagues, requiring excellent communication skills and professionalism at all times. The position demands strict adherence to safety checks and procedures, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring all equipment meets safety standards, and reporting any issues that arise. Drivers must follow all DOT regulations and company policies, secure loads correctly, and maintain organized route paperwork. Operational responsibilities also include performing hook and unhook procedures safely, parking and securing equipment properly, and managing damaged goods and customer returns.

Beyond driving duties, the Shuttle Driver is expected to maintain cleanliness and order in their tractor and trailer areas and, as part of a team, to perform any duties required to best serve the company’s objectives. The role requires physical strength for handling varying product weights, sometimes up to 90 pounds, and safe use of equipment such as lift gates and two-wheelers.

Overall, this role offers a rewarding career path with substantial benefits, stability, and a chance to work in an essential part of America’s food distribution system, contributing to the success of the company and its valued customers.
