This position welcomes walk-in applicants Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., with assistance and interviews conducted on the spot. Starting pay is competitive at $32 per hour, plus a $10,000 sign-on bonus. Shift work is typically Sunday through Thursday with overnight hours and may include occasional work outdoors in the yard.
The role of Shuttle Driver at Performance Foodservice involves transporting empty trailers to warehouse locations and returning full trailers to shuttle yard locations efficiently and safely. This position requires operating tandem trailers, tractor trailers, and straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations. Shuttle Drivers perform routine safety inspections, report any vehicle issues, manage loading and unloading of freight, and maintain accurate records of their driving hours using federally mandated logs. The role involves not only driving duties but also customer service responsibilities, requiring professional communication with customers, vendors, and colleagues. The dynamic nature of the job demands adaptability, teamwork, and commitment to safety standards. The driver is expected to ensure freight is properly loaded and secured, collect damaged goods and customer returns, and maintain the cleanliness and order of vehicles and trailers. This position helps to keep the supply chain flowing smoothly, ensuring that goods reach their destinations on time and intact. Job Requirements
- high school diploma/ged or equivalent
- 12+ months of commercial driving experience
- valid CDL A with doubles endorsement
- must be 21 years of age
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
- work required 3rd shift schedule, Sunday–Thursday nights
- pass pre-employment drug test
- pass road test
- valid current DOT health card and/or able to secure new DOT health card
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift, product generally ranges from approximately 60 to 90 pounds, depending on the location

Job Duties
- perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- report all safety issues and/or repairs required
- follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- ensure all required route paperwork is with tractor trailer load and available to driver upon dispatch
- drive and deliver trailers according to predetermined route schedule
- perform hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines
- park and store tractor trailers in designated areas
- ensure all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured
- collect and secure damaged goods and customer returns in empty trailer to bring back to driver check-in at base facility and complete necessary paperwork
- unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required
- complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required
- perform other related duties as assigned
