Starting pay for the Shuttle Driver position is $32 per hour, combined with an attractive $10,000 sign-on bonus, emphasizing the company’s commitment to attracting qualified candidates. As a Shuttle Driver at Performance Food Group, you will play a critical role in ensuring operational efficiency by transporting empty trailers to operating company warehouse locations and delivering full trailers to domicile or shuttle yard sites. This position requires driving tandem trailers, tractor trailers, and straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The Shuttle Driver will be responsible for conducting pre- and post-trip safety inspections, securing freight properly, managing all route paperwork, and maintaining effective communication with customers, vendors, and colleagues to ensure smooth operations.

Your role extends beyond driving to include performing hook and unhook procedures, parking and storing equipment appropriately, handling damaged goods and customer returns, unloading trailers, completing daily service logs, and maintaining cleanliness around the tractor and loading docks. The position demands adherence to strict safety standards, timely deliveries, and teamwork within the department to contribute to the company’s overall success. Working primarily Sunday through Thursday overnight shifts, this role may occasionally include yard work and demands physical stamina to handle freight typically weighing between 60 to 90 pounds. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 12 months of commercial driving experience
  • Valid commercial driver’s license CDL A with doubles endorsement
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle record for the past 3 years
  • Availability to work Sunday through Thursday overnight shift
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening
  • Passed road test
  • Possession of valid DOT health card or ability to obtain one
  • Physical capability to hand-lift and handle freight weighing up to 90 pounds using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 12+ months of commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Work required 3rd shift schedule, Sunday – Thursday nights (schedules may vary)
  • Pass pre-employment drug test
  • Pass road test
  • Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
  • Product generally ranges from approximately 60 to 90 pounds, depending on the location

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
  • Inspect tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed
  • Report all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Ensure all required route paperwork is with tractor trailer load and available to driver upon dispatch
  • Drive and deliver trailers according to predetermined route schedule
  • Perform hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines
  • Park and store tractor trailers in designated areas
  • Ensure all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured
  • Collect and secure damaged goods and customer returns in empty trailer to bring back to driver check-in at base facility and complete necessary paperwork
  • Unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
