Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline distributor serving a wide range of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. PFG prides itself on building strong, close-knit relationships with these clients through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and operational experts. This comprehensive support helps customers improve their operations, develop menus, select quality products, and implement successful operational strategies. With a mission not just to deliver exceptional food products but also to help independent restaurant owners achieve their business dreams, Performance Foodservice embodies a commitment to quality, service excellence, and community engagement. The company also fosters a culture of inclusivity and equal opportunity employment, ensuring a respectful and supportive working environment for all team members.
The role of Shuttle Driver at Performance Foodservice is a crucial position within the company’s supply chain operations. Shuttle Drivers play a vital part by transporting empty trailers to various warehouse locations and delivering full trailers to designated shuttling yards or domiciles. This position requires operating tandem trailers, tractor trailers, or straight trucks in both intrastate and interstate routes, ensuring that all products are transported safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The Shuttle Driver is more than just a transporter – they are the face of Performance Foodservice at customer locations, establishing and maintaining strong relationships through professional interactions with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
Drivers are responsible for performing essential safety inspections and ensuring all vehicles meet company and federal safety standards. The role demands strict adherence to DOT policies and safe driving guidelines, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections, proper load securing, and accurate paperwork handling. Drivers also manage the hook/unhook procedures, parking and storage of equipment, and the handling of damaged goods or customer returns. Completing daily logs according to federal and state regulations is critical to maintaining compliance and operational integrity. Additional responsibilities include keeping the work area tidy, assisting with loading dock activities, and performing other related duties as needed to support team objectives.
This position offers competitive pay in the range of $70,000 to $80,000 annually, alongside exceptional benefits starting from day one of employment, including medical, dental, and vision coverage. Performance Foodservice invests heavily in its employees through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and ample growth opportunities within a safe, respectful, and rewarding workplace culture. Scheduled primarily from Sunday night to Thursday night with dispatch hours between 3 pm and 5 pm, this role is well-suited for candidates seeking stable, full-time employment with a reputable company dedicated to food distribution excellence.
