The company prides itself on a dedicated team comprised of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other food industry experts who not only provide quality food products but also extensive support and guidance. This includes menu development, operational strategies, and product selection aimed at helping clients enhance their business operations and achieve their goals. Performance Foodservice stands as a pillar in the food distribution network within the United States, underpinning the success of countless food service operations nationwide.
The role of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is pivotal, playing an integral part in maintaining the efficient flow of the supply chain. These drivers are tasked with more than just delivering products; they represent the company’s face to customers, nurturing enduring relationships through professionalism and reliability. The position offers competitive compensation ranging typically between $75,000 to $100,000 annually, with uncapped earning potential. Additional financial incentives include quarterly safety bonuses and unlimited referral bonuses valued at $2,500 per referral. Moreover, a $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered, although it excludes those who have worked within any Performance Food Group-owned company in the past six months.
Work-life balance is also a priority, as the role features a 4- or 5-day work week with potential additional days and up to two nights out per week. The position comes with a per diem and overnight compensation of approximately $145 and supplies new equipment to ensure safety and efficiency. Benefits for employees kick in from day one, with health and wellness programs, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off being some of the key highlights.
As a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver, responsibilities include operating tractor trailers or straight trucks across local, intrastate, interstate, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and drive-and-drop routes. Drivers must ensure timely and safe delivery of food and related products while adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The role demands a high level of accountability, including performing safety checks, reporting safety issues, handling customer interactions professionally, managing freight accurately, and maintaining cleanliness and order in the tractor-trailer and loading dock areas.
This position requires individuals who are committed to safety, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. Drivers must be vigilant in inspecting and securing loads, processing delivery paperwork, collecting payments when required, and working collaboratively within their teams to provide seamless service. The company fosters an inclusive and respectful work environment where recognition of effort and safety are core components of its culture. Employment at Performance Foodservice offers a meaningful career path, supporting America’s food distribution while providing room for professional growth and development.
Overall, joining Performance Foodservice as a delivery driver means becoming a vital link in the food supply chain with the backing of a reputable company known for quality, care, and commitment to its customers and employees alike.
