The position available is for an Hourly CDL-A Delivery Driver, integral to supporting America’s food distribution system. This role offers competitive compensation starting at $28 per hour, with additional pay components based on job efficiency. Drivers typically work an average 12-hour shift beginning between 1 pm and 3 pm, with opportunities for overtime pay and off-day bonuses. Importantly, this position guarantees local delivery with the comfort of being home daily and a 4-day workweek, ensuring a healthy work-life balance. The role includes operating well-maintained equipment, such as automatic transmission trucks, and the company provides all necessary uniforms and safety boots. Notably, there is no requirement for merchandising, stocking, or cash handling in this role.

As a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that food products reach customers safely and on time. Beyond transportation duties, drivers represent the company’s face to customers, fostering strong relationships through professionalism and reliability. The role involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. Drivers are responsible for adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, performing vehicle inspections, managing freight securely, and handling all related paperwork accurately.

In addition to transportation, drivers will engage in loading, unloading, and verifying product deliveries, ensuring all items are accounted for and in good condition. The position requires effective communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers to provide timely and accurate responses to any inquiries. Drivers must maintain meticulous records of hours worked and ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. Housekeeping duties related to the tractor and loading dock area are also part of the daily responsibilities. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED
  • 6 months or more delivery driver experience
  • valid CDL-A license
  • meet all applicable state licensing and certification requirements
  • clean motor vehicle report for last three years
  • pass drug test and criminal background check
  • pass road test
  • valid or ability to obtain DOT health card
  • able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack freight

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 6+ months delivery driver experience
  • valid CDL-A
  • meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • pass road test
  • attains or has valid current DOT health card and/or able to secure new DOT health card
  • able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift

Job Duties

  • perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to department of transportation (DOT) regulations
  • follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • immediately report all safety hazards
  • inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
  • perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • load customer returns on to trailer and secure trailer doors
  • ensure that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured
  • unload damaged goods and customer returns and bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork
  • unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required
  • complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required
  • secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift
  • perform other related duties as assigned
