Job Description

Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, is a prominent leader in the convenience retail industry and part of a Fortune 150 company with over $23 billion in revenue. The company excels in providing fresh and broad-line solutions through its extensive network of distribution centers across the United States and Canada. Core-Mark is deeply committed to empowering its customers, employees, and communities, fostering a culture of growth, inclusion, and respect. The company prides itself on a safe and supportive work environment that emphasizes employee recognition and rewards. It offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits starting from day one, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and numerous growth opportunities for employees looking to build a career in food distribution and logistics.

The Driver, Hourly CDL-A position at Core-Mark plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of America’s food supply chain. Drivers ensure that food and food-related products are delivered safely and on schedule, representing the company in a professional and courteous manner while building lasting relationships with customers. This role involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks for local, intrastate, interstate, shuttle, and overnight deliveries. Drivers follow strict Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, complete thorough vehicle safety checks, manage delivery documentation, and handle any issues that arise during the delivery process. The position typically involves early shifts starting between 3 am and 5 am, 12-hour workdays, and offers overtime pay after 40 hours with opportunities for off-day bonuses.

Core-Mark’s CDL-A drivers benefit from a 4-day workweek with local delivery routes that allow them to return home daily. They work with well-maintained, safe equipment featuring automatic transmissions, and receive company-provided uniforms and safety boots. Notably, this role does not involve merchandising, stocking, or cash handling responsibilities. Drivers are responsible for unloading products, verifying delivery accuracy, conducting damage control, securing freight, maintaining cleanliness of their vehicles and work areas, and completing all required paperwork related to deliveries and safety compliance.

The company seeks individuals with a high school diploma or equivalent, valid CDL-A license, and at least one year of commercial driving and foodservice distribution experience. Drivers must have a clean driving record, successfully pass drug testing, background checks, road tests, and possess or be able to obtain a valid DOT Health Card. The physical demands include hand-lifting items weighing between 10 to 90 pounds, using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to handle freight throughout the shift.

As part of Performance Food Group, Core-Mark adheres to a strict equal employment opportunity policy that values diversity and inclusion, ensuring a workplace free of discrimination based on race, color, gender, age, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics. This position offers exceptional opportunities for growth within a stable and rapidly expanding company dedicated to delivering quality service and fostering employee success.
