The role of the Driver, Hourly CDL-A at Core-Mark is pivotal within the company’s operational framework, especially in supporting America's essential food distribution system. This position is classified as hourly employment with a base pay of $26 per hour plus additional component pay depending on job efficiency. The job requires delivering food and food-service products using tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight assignments. Drivers operate in a safe and timely manner adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies. The shifts typically start between 3 am and 5 am and run approximately 12 hours, with overtime and off-day bonuses available. Notably, this role offers local delivery with home daily return and a favorable four-day workweek schedule. Notably, the position avoids merchandising, stocking, or cash handling duties and provides employees with company uniforms and safety boots, as well as safe, well-maintained vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. Beyond the essential task of delivery, the driver serves as the company’s ambassador building lasting relationships with customers through professional and courteous interactions. The job also involves performing safety inspections, vehicle maintenance reporting, freight handling including loading and unloading, keeping accurate paperwork, and conducting damage control when necessary to maintain the integrity of product deliveries.

Job Requirements

- 1+ year commercial driving experience
- 1+ years foodservice distribution industry experience
- valid CDL-A
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- pass road test
- attain or have valid current DOT health card or able to secure new DOT health card
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
- product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds depending on the location

Job Duties
- Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Immediately report all safety hazards and inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of loaded products
- Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule and unload products into designated customer storage areas
- Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
