The role of the CDL-A Driver at Performance Foodservice is integral to the company’s mission of delivering goods efficiently and safely across various routes including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight or drive-and-drop routes. This position requires a professional who can be the face of the company while ensuring that food and related products arrive on time, in good condition, and in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The CDL-A driver is responsible for safely operating tractor trailers and straight trucks, performing pre- and post-trip inspections, maintaining safety standards, and accurately handling delivery documentation.
Drivers must demonstrate strong communication skills as they interact professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers. They must also collaborate effectively within their teams and support the company’s operational goals. Responsibilities include conducting safety checks, inspecting vehicles and trailers, reporting and addressing safety issues, securing freight, verifying deliveries, and managing paperwork associated with deliveries. In addition, drivers may be required to handle customer returns, collect payments where applicable, and maintain cleanliness and organization around their work areas.
This position offers a 5-day work week from Monday through Saturday with no Sunday shifts, although days off may vary and require flexibility.
