This team works closely with clients to offer strategic guidance in areas such as menu development, operational efficiency, and product selection, enabling independent restaurant owners and other foodservice providers to thrive competitively. Performance Foodservice is committed to fostering an inclusive, safe, and rewarding working environment where respect and recognition are paramount values.
The role of a CDL-A Driver within this dynamic company is pivotal in supporting America’s food distribution network. Earning an average yearly income of $80,000 plus additional quarterly safety bonuses, this full-time position offers a five-day workweek spanning Monday through Saturday with no Sundays required. Shift schedules and days off are flexible to accommodate business needs, and certain routes may involve overnight stays or team driving. Typically, dispatch times range between 12 AM and 5 AM, and drivers generally work 10-hour shifts engaging in ramp work.
As a CDL-A Driver, you will be responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and drive-and-drop assignments. The core objective of this role is to ensure the secure, timely, and compliant delivery of food and related products to customers, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies. This role is vital not just operationally but also in representing the company’s brand and building lasting customer relationships.
Key responsibilities include conducting thorough safety inspections of vehicles, trailers, and freight before and after trips; ensuring compliance with DOT standards; maintaining accurate delivery and inspection records; loading and unloading freight; verifying deliveries with customers and obtaining signatures; handling payment collections when necessary; and communicating professionally with customers and team members. Drivers must also manage general housekeeping of the vehicle and loading dock, secure equipment and freight at the end of shifts, and proactively report and address any safety hazards or equipment issues.
Performance Foodservice offers a competitive compensation package that includes day-one health and wellness benefits, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, a 401K plan with employer matching, educational assistance programs, paid time off, and more. The company places a strong emphasis on growth opportunities, recognizing the essential nature of the work its drivers perform in the food supply chain. Moreover, the workplace culture prioritizes safety, inclusivity, rewards, and respect, making it an excellent environment for dedicated professionals looking to advance their careers in food distribution and logistics.
In summary, this CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice combines a rewarding compensation package with meaningful work that supports vital aspects of America’s food system. It requires a dependable, safety-conscious individual capable of teamwork and strong customer engagement.
