The company prides itself on building strong, lasting relationships with customers through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and operational experts. These professionals not only provide essential food products but also offer invaluable advice on enhancing operations, menu development, product selection, and overall operational strategies. This commitment has positioned Performance Foodservice as a trusted partner for businesses aiming to elevate their service quality and operational efficiency. As a part of Performance Food Group, the company embraces a culture of inclusivity and equal opportunity, ensuring a respectful and supportive work environment for all employees, regardless of background or identity. This approach not only fosters a diverse workforce but also enhances innovation and customer service excellence.
The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is central to the efficient operation of the country’s food supply chain. This position entails driving tractor trailers or straight trucks to deliver food and food-related products safely and on schedule to various customers. These delivery professionals are more than just drivers; they are the face of the company at the customer level, responsible for cultivating strong customer relationships that reinforce the company’s reputation for reliability and excellent service. The role requires flexibility, including the possibility of team routes, overnight shifts with layovers, and a dispatch window primarily between midnight and early morning hours, averaging 10-hour shifts with all work performed on the ramp. The position offers competitive compensation, averaging $80,000 or more annually, alongside quarterly safety bonuses and comprehensive benefits starting from day one of employment.
Beyond driving, the CDL-A Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring cargo safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations through meticulous pre-trip and post-trip inspections, secure handling of freight, accurate record-keeping, and professional interaction with customers and team members. Drivers are expected to maintain the cleanliness and security of transport equipment and the loading dock area. Their responsibilities extend to the verification of deliveries, collection of payments where required, and damage control assessments with appropriate reporting. This multifaceted role demands not only physical endurance and operational skill but also a high degree of professionalism and attention to detail, reflecting the company’s standards and commitment to customer satisfaction. Joining Performance Foodservice as a CDL-A Driver means becoming part of a respected organization that values safety, growth opportunities, and a culture of recognition, support, and respect.
