Job Description
Pilot Company is a leading and reputable network of travel centers and fueling stations with a steadfast commitment to delivering exceptional services across the United States and Canada. With over 750 retail and fueling locations in 44 states and six Canadian provinces, Pilot Company has firmly established itself as a trustworthy provider in the energy and logistics sector. Founded in 1958 by Jim A. Haslam II and now led by CEO Adam Wright, the company prides itself on its people-first culture, dedication to community involvement, and a values-driven approach to business. Employing more than 30,000 team members, Pilot Company continues to grow and evolve by offering competitive opportunities for career advancement and personal growth within a dynamic environment. The organization supports a diverse portfolio including supply chain operations, retailing, transportation, logistics, technology, and finance, all aimed at keeping North America moving efficiently and safely.
The role of Fuel Transport Driver at Pilot Company is a specialized position focused on the safe and timely transportation of various fuels including diesel, gasoline, biodiesel, ethanol, and occasionally hydrogen. This opportunity is ideal for experienced drivers who hold a Class-A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) and Tanker endorsements and possess at least one year of fuel hauling experience along with two years of tractor/trailer driving experience. Serving primarily on an Over-The-Road (OTR) basis for intervals of six to eight weeks, drivers in this position benefit from owning their trucks without slip-seating, ensuring familiarity and consistent maintenance of their assigned equipment. This role is especially critical for the company's Floater Team, which provides emergency relief during significant weather disasters and adapts to volatile market supply demands.
Fuel Transport Drivers at Pilot Company are not only responsible for transporting fuel safely but also for the oversight and upkeep of their equipment in partnership with dedicated Fleet Maintenance Specialists. This cooperative maintenance approach helps enhance vehicle reliability and safety standards, which are paramount in the transportation of hazardous materials. The company rewards qualified drivers with competitive compensation packages that include potential Safety Enhancement Pay bonuses based on performance. Additionally, drivers are supported by an extensive benefits program including medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, company-paid life insurance and long-term disability, and a company-matched 401K plan.
Being part of Pilot Company's team means working with newer equipment, averaging only 1.3 years old, thus emphasizing safety, comfort, and efficiency. Other perks include paid weekly wages, paid vacations and holidays, flexible spending accounts, healthcare HRAs, dependent care FSAs, and attractive referral bonuses. Pilot Company carefully selects its drivers for their professionalism, commitment to safety, and exemplary driving records, ensuring that all team members uphold the company's high standards. This position offers a stable and rewarding career for those passionate about the transportation industry and eager to contribute to an essential service sector.
