Job Description

Forward Air is a leading provider in the expedited transportation industry, specializing in regional less-than-truckload (LTL) services across the United States. Founded on the principles of speed, reliability, and efficiency, Forward Air operates a vast network of closed terminals at over 100 locations nationwide. This network supports a unique business model where Owner Operators are valued not just as drivers, but as true business partners. With a focus on fostering profitable partnerships, Forward Air offers programs and compensation plans designed to deliver exceptional earnings while reducing operational costs. The company stands out for its commitment to supporting Owner Operators with a blend of competitive pay, consistent freight access, and dedicated driver support aimed at helping Owner Operators run successful trucking businesses rather than merely driving trucks.

This role is ideal for experienced CDL-A Owner Operators seeking to maximize their earning potential while minimizing wear and tear on their equipment. At Forward Air, Owner Operators benefit from high pay rates that can amount up to $1.31 per loaded mile for solo drivers and as much as $650,000 in gross annual revenue for teams. With a predominantly no-touch, drop and hook freight system averaging just 26,000 pounds per load, the job is designed to protect your equipment and reduce maintenance costs. Solo Owner Operators have the opportunity to gross between $4,100 and $5,200 per week running an average of 2,500 miles through Forward's closed terminal network, typically out on the road for 3 to 4 weeks at a stretch. Team Owner Operators can double that revenue potential, earning between $12,500 and $13,500 weekly by running 5,500 miles and benefiting from additional compensation structures including fuel surcharge programs tailored to offset rising fuel prices.

Forward Air's business model empowers Owner Operators by providing the support of a dedicated Driver Support Team that assists with operational concerns, thereby strengthening the business behind each truck. This support, combined with carefully structured cost-saving programs and a consistent stream of freight tied to their extensive terminal network, enables Owner Operators to focus on growing their businesses with confidence. Working at Forward Air means you’ll join a partnership that prioritizes steady revenue streams, substantial compensation, and the professional autonomy that Owner Operators seek.

Whether you're a solo driver or part of a team looking to leverage the resources of an industry leader, Forward Air offers unmatched earning potential and business-friendly programs. The company's transparent compensation models reflect not only miles logged but bonus structures that reward performance and destinations, ensuring that Owner Operators see their efforts translate directly into financial success. The 99% no-touch freight policy means less physical labor and more safe, efficient transportation opportunities. Moreover, the focus on lighter freight weights and consistent routes helps extend the life of your equipment, diminishing maintenance costs and downtime.

Forward Air also understands the importance of flexibility and ongoing career growth, welcoming new applicants on a rolling basis with no deadlines, thus providing continuous opportunities for CDL-A Owner Operators to join the network. With competitive pay, comprehensive support, and a business-centric approach, Forward Air is at the forefront of the trucking industry, ready to move your career forward or elevate your current Owner Operator business to new heights.
