With a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, Sysco operates an extensive network of distribution centers and a robust transportation fleet to ensure timely deliveries and excellent service. Known for its dedication to supporting its employees and fostering a strong community, Sysco offers rewarding career opportunities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
This position offers a unique opportunity to join Sysco as a Delivery Driver, operating within a cross-dock model that involves picking up loaded trucks from nightly deliveries and returning empty trucks to the assigned lot. The role features a flexible 4-day workweek with start times ranging from 12:30 AM to 4:00 AM, focusing on completing assigned routes efficiently and safely. Drivers earn a competitive salary with an average minimum of $65,000, potentially reaching up to $78,000 based on performance and experience, alongside bonus and incentive programs to reward outstanding work.
The primary responsibilities of the Delivery Driver include managing daily delivery routes with frequent stops, loading and unloading products using hand trucks or by hand, and ensuring deliveries meet designated times with precision. The role demands physical endurance as the driver will frequently lift, push, or move products weighing up to 100 pounds and navigate different environments such as ramps, stairs, and docks, often in varied weather conditions. Drivers must perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations and company policies, maintain excellent customer service by verifying deliveries and addressing any discrepancies, and contribute to a safety-focused work culture.
Candidates for this role should possess a valid CDL Class A or B license, with a Class A preferred, and have at least one year of route delivery experience or driving a straight truck. Strong communication skills in English are essential for engaging with customers and completing reports accurately. The position requires a professional demeanor, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently while adapting to flexible start times. Drivers must also demonstrate excellent customer relations skills and problem-solving abilities, as well as maintain organized work habits and foster positive inter-department communications related to routing and safety.
Sysco provides a comprehensive benefits package, including paid vacation and holidays, healthcare coverage starting shortly after hire, retirement benefits, employee discounts, and opportunities to purchase discounted Sysco stock. This supportive environment and attractive benefits make the Delivery Driver role ideal for individuals seeking a stable and rewarding career in transportation within a respected global foodservice company.
