The role available is for a Route Delivery Driver with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). This position entails delivering beverage products to retail businesses following scheduled routes or as assignments arise. It is a full-time union position with a training pay structure transitioning into commission-based compensation. During the initial three weeks of training, drivers receive an hourly wage of $28.61, and upon successful completion of training, compensation moves to a commission structure. New employees typically earn between $75,000 and $85,000 during their first year. The work schedule is primarily weekdays, with some weekends required, and drivers are home every day, enhancing work-life balance. The role requires safe and efficient transportation of beverages using commercial trucks, vans, or tractor-trailer combinations. Drivers build strong customer relations through timely deliveries and product rotation to ensure freshness. Accountability is critical, including completion of all required paperwork such as invoices, load sheets, and cash/check handling within specified timeframes. Drivers also play an active role in equipment care, facility upkeep, and maintaining load accuracy, ensuring proper stock rotation and assisting with merchandising tasks in retail stores. Job Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate effective use of safety rules including proper lifting
- Ability to move products weighing up to 165 lbs
- Ability to operate a two-wheeled hand truck, pushing and pulling weights exceeding 150 lbs
- Forklift and pallet jack experience is a plus, but not necessary
- Respond to official inquiries and make entries on reports and records
- Able to work in all weather conditions
- Able to work flexible hours, including weekends
Job Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License and DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate required
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 3 years of route driving experience
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Understand highway traffic signs and signals
- Basic computer experience or knowledge a plus
Job Duties
- Drive commercial delivery trucks, vans, and/or tractor-trailer combinations to deliver product to retail accounts
- Build strong relationships with retailers by delivering products in a timely and efficient manner and rotating product as necessary to ensure freshness
- Complete and submit all required paperwork, invoices, display forms, load sheets and cash/checks within appropriate time frames
- Ensure accurate completion of Department of Transportation checklist and report maintenance problems and accidents in a timely manner
- Look for innovation and continuous improvement in the Delivery Department and in the company overall
- Maintain appearance of facility including monitoring and repacking damaged product and general maintenance of equipment
- Ensure loads are built and loaded accurately in a timely manner, load and unload delivery trucks and ensure proper stock rotation in the warehouse and on the trucks
- Merchandising stores, rotating product, building displays, following Sales Representatives direction
