Job Description
Schneider is a leading North American truckload carrier known for its commitment to offering dependable freight transportation solutions while prioritizing driver satisfaction and operational efficiency. Founded over 85 years ago, Schneider has grown into one of the largest and most respected transportation and logistics companies in the industry. The company operates with a customer-oriented approach and emphasizes safety, technology innovation, and inclusivity across its diverse workforce. Schneider specializes in various trucking services, including regional, long-haul, dedicated, and intermodal transportation. They provide competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and career development opportunities for professional drivers, working alongside a culture that respects diversity and fosters growth.
This opportunity is for the position of Regional Van Truckload Truck Driver. In this role, drivers will operate within Schneider's regional network, specifically serving the Eastern 37 states, and enjoy a predictable schedule that allows for a home weekly schedule. The regional van truckload position focuses on power lanes with a high volume of consistent freight, enabling drivers to maximize their driving time and reduce downtime significantly. The freight assignments are predominantly no-touch, drop-and-hook loads, which means less physical freight handling and increased efficiency for drivers. The role benefits from advanced dispatching, giving drivers the advantage of planning their routes and schedules ahead of time.
Schneider offers a competitive pay package ranging from $890 to $1,080 weekly, which includes mileage pay as well as hourly pay for on-duty but non-driving time. Drivers can also earn weekly performance bonuses and additional mileage incentives based on weekly miles driven. For experienced drivers, a $5,000 sign-on bonus is available, paid out over 12 months to support their transition into the company, while new drivers may receive a $2,500 sign-on bonus on a similar schedule. Orientation is paid, and benefits begin after six months, including paid time off and six days of holiday pay annually. Additionally, drivers can earn an annual bonus of up to 2% of their gross annual pay.
Schneider’s inclusive culture is a major pillar of its success. The company champions equal opportunity employment and values diversity and inclusion across all dimensions, including race, gender, veteran status, and more. This commitment creates a welcoming workplace where all associates have access to resources and opportunities to contribute fully and flourish in their careers. Schneider complies with all federal regulations including the ADA and E-Verify processes, ensuring a fair and legal hiring standard.
Drivers interested in this position who lack a CDL can explore company-paid CDL training programs that offer either tuition reimbursement or paid apprenticeship training. Inexperienced drivers also receive personal coaches to support their transition from training to full-time driving. The equipment provided by Schneider is modern and equipped with comfort-enhancing technology, catering to the needs of professional drivers. Additional benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, unlimited referral bonuses, and military experience credit programs.
Becoming a Regional Van Truckload Truck Driver at Schneider means joining a highly regarded transportation company that pays dependable wages, supports career growth, and promotes a culture of respect and inclusion. Choose Schneider to enjoy fulfilling work delivering important goods that keep communities and businesses supplied, along with a pay package that fairly rewards your dedication and reliability.
