Job Description

The hiring establishment for this role is a reputable transportation and logistics company specializing in efficient delivery services. This company operates with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and safety, maintaining a commitment to timely and accurate package delivery. As a significant player in the logistics and distribution sector, they utilize a cross-dock model wherein drivers play a pivotal role in ensuring packages move smoothly from point to point without long-term storage, allowing for rapid delivery cycles. This company values reliability, professionalism, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks as essential components of their workforce.

This job opportunity is for a commercial driver position that requires handling daily delivery routes with a frequent stop schedule. The role includes loading and unloading packages using hand trucks at each designated stop as prescribed by the Transportation Department Manager. Drivers will pick up loaded trucks from nightly deliveries at the assigned loading dock and return the empty trucks to a designated lot, operating within a dynamic and fast-paced transportation system. This position is crucial for maintaining the supply chain's efficiency and ensuring customers receive their orders promptly and correctly.

The ideal candidate will be involved in various tasks beyond driving, such as occasionally assisting with loading trucks, palletizing products, and performing additional duties as assigned by supervisors or managers. This job demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols, including performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections in line with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies. The company also emphasizes strong customer service skills since drivers often interact directly with customers to verify deliveries, resolve discrepancies, and handle complaints professionally.

Compensation for this role is competitive, with an average pay rate of $36 per hour, which may vary based on the candidate's experience level. This hourly wage reflects the responsibilities and skills required to excel in this position. Employment is typically structured around full-time schedules, potentially requiring flexibility for overtime, weekends, and holiday shifts, dependent on business needs. This environment is ideal for candidates who enjoy autonomous work within a structured system that values efficiency and safety.

Overall, the role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a career in transportation and logistics with a focus on customer service and operational excellence. The company provides a supportive work environment with clear expectations and growth potential for those demonstrating commitment and professionalism. If you are looking for a hands-on role that combines driving skills with physical work and customer interaction, this position is designed to match those interests while offering a stable and rewarding career path.
