This particular role involves operating daily driver routes within a cross-dock model, a crucial logistics function within Sysco’s delivery system. Drivers pick up loaded trucks each night from designated loading docks and then complete their routes by unloading products at multiple customer locations. Drivers are responsible for loading and unloading goods using hand trucks, managing product placement in accordance with specific delivery orders, and maintaining strong customer service by verifying deliveries and handling any discrepancies or customer complaints professionally. The role demands physical stamina due to frequent lifting of packages that can weigh up to 100 pounds and navigating various environments such as ramps, docks, and stairs. Drivers must comply with Department of Transportation regulations by performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections and adhering to safety protocols. While the primary responsibility centers on route completion, drivers may occasionally assist with palletizing products and other warehouse duties as assigned. The position requires no travel outside the assigned territory and emphasizes local delivery efficiency. Candidates for this position must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record, and demonstrate flexibility for overtime, weekends, and holiday shifts as business needs dictate. Previous experience in customer delivery, use of hand carts or hand trucks, and working in the food and beverage industry are preferred but not required, making this an accessible entry point for motivated individuals seeking to build or advance their careers in logistics and distribution with a market-leading company.
