Job Description

Sysco is a leading global foodservice distribution company that specializes in delivering a broad range of food products to restaurants, healthcare and educational facilities, lodging establishments, and other customers who prepare meals away from home. Known for its extensive product selection and commitment to excellence, Sysco is a company that values dependability, professionalism, and a customer-first attitude. With a rich history in the food distribution industry, Sysco continually adapts and innovates to meet the evolving needs of its customers, maintaining its position as an industry leader with a passion for food and customer service.

The company is currently seeking reliable and dedicated local CDL A Delivery Truck Drivers to join its team. This role involves safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer to deliver various products, such as meats, produce, frozen foods, groceries, dry goods, and supplies, to customer locations on an assigned route schedule. Drivers at Sysco play a critical role in the supply chain, bridging the gap between the company’s warehouses and its customers. The position not only requires technical driving skills but also the ability to build strong customer relationships through a positive and friendly attitude. Drivers become familiar with customer operations to better meet their specific needs and expectations.

As a Sysco CDL A Delivery Truck Driver, the employment type is typically full-time, offering a competitive compensation package which includes excellent pay with productivity incentives. Most drivers enjoy the benefit of daily routes allowing them to be home nightly, contributing to a healthy work-life balance. The role demands physical stamina, as drivers are required to manually unload and handle freight weighing an average of 40-60 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Safety is a key priority; therefore, all drivers must hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) and possess a driving record that meets the company’s insurability standards. In addition, drivers must be able to communicate effectively in English to interact with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and respond to inquiries.

This role requires flexibility, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as business demands dictate. However, Sysco emphasizes employee growth and development by providing ongoing job skills training, leadership development opportunities, and career advancement prospects. The company values consistency in work history and relevant experience, preferring candidates with at least one year of customer delivery experience and familiarity with hand cart or hand truck usage. Those with food and beverage experience are also highly regarded.

Sysco supports its employees with a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid vacation and holidays, healthcare, retirement plans, employee discounts, referral programs, safety initiatives, tuition reimbursement, uniforms, and more. New hires become eligible for benefits starting from the first day of the month after or coinciding with 31 days from their hire date. The company culture centers around safety, recognition, and a commitment to quality service. Sysco drivers are more than just operators; they are ambassadors of the brand and vital contributors to the company’s ongoing success.

This opportunity offers not just a job, but a career path filled with growth potential within a company that promotes from within. For those passionate about driving, customer service, and the foodservice industry, joining Sysco as a CDL A Delivery Truck Driver means becoming part of a team that drives success every day, with support, security, and a chance to be part of something bigger.
