Job Description
Schneider is a leading transportation and logistics company known for its commitment to safety, innovation, and driver satisfaction. With decades of industry experience, Schneider has established itself as a reliable partner in freight transportation across North America. The company operates a broad network of services including truckload, intermodal, logistics, and more, ensuring seamless movement of goods and excellent customer service. Schneider emphasizes an inclusive culture, valuing diversity in thought, race, ethnicity, gender, age, and military status among other areas. This dedication to inclusivity fosters innovation, strategic thinking, and leadership among its employees. Schneider also provides various accommodations during the hiring process as required under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Furthermore, the company uses E-Verify to confirm employment eligibility, demonstrating its commitment to legal compliance and workforce quality.
The role of Intermodal Truck Driver at Schneider offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers who hold a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with at least three months of experience. This is a full-time position based within 200 miles of Houston, TX, where candidates typically live within 40 miles of the city. The primary responsibility of this role is hauling freight containers secured to company-owned chassis, operating mostly within railyards and focusing on intermodal freight handling. The job involves 100% no-touch freight with approximately 40% drop-and-hook operations, allowing drivers to spend more time on the move and less time waiting at loading docks.
The position offers a competitive weekly pay range from $1,080 to $1,320, combining hourly pay and load pay. In addition to a paid orientation program and the chance to attend a specific paid intermodal training at a major hub, the role provides paid time off after six months of employment along with six days of holiday pay annually. There is also an annual bonus opportunity where drivers can earn up to 3% of their gross annual pay. Schneider supports its drivers 24/7/365 with operational and maintenance assistance and equips them with leading equipment and technology designed for driver comfort. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, unlimited referral bonuses, and credits for military experience among other military benefits.
Choosing to work as an Intermodal Truck Driver at Schneider means joining a company that prioritizes continuous support, efficiency in drop-and-hook freight handling, and personalized training to ensure drivers feel confident and supported from day one. Schneider's culture of respect, dignity, and equal opportunity ensures a workplace where all associates can thrive and contribute fully to the organization's success. This role is ideal for competent drivers seeking a rewarding and stable career with a reputable company, competitive pay, extensive benefits, and a focus on driver well-being and operational excellence.
