Job Description
Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a leading U.S. supplier of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, in addition to hardgoods and related products. As one of the largest safety products suppliers in the country, and a key provider of ammonia products and process chemicals, Airgas operates with a mission centered on safety, customer success, innovation, and sustainability. With a workforce of 18,000 associates, the company encourages a culture where employees are empowered to share ideas, take initiative, and make decisions that contribute to the overall success of the business. Airgas’s parent company, Air Liquide, is a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare, present in 60 countries with approximately 66,500 employees, serving more than 4 million customers and patients worldwide.
The company places great emphasis on diversity and inclusion, recognizing that a variety of backgrounds and perspectives make their team stronger and more innovative. Airgas maintains a welcoming workplace culture that respects, honors, and values diversity in every aspect of its operations. This commitment to equality and inclusivity extends to all employees, customers, patients, and community stakeholders.
The CDL A Hazmat Driver position based in Dayton, Ohio, within Airgas’s Bulk Cryo Logistics division, represents a critical role in the safe and efficient transportation of compressed and liquefied industrial gases, including liquid nitrogen and oxygen. The role requires operating commercial motor vehicle combinations, especially tractor-trailers, often over long distances, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer service. The driver is responsible for performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle’s maintenance needs are identified and addressed promptly. Reporting incidents such as accidents, injuries, safety issues, citations, and customer complaints immediately to supervisors is paramount to maintaining operational excellence.
The position also involves completing and submitting all required reports as mandated by the Department of Transportation and Airgas policies. Candidates must hold a Class A CDL with HazMat and Tanker endorsements and have at least three years of experience driving tractor-trailer vehicles. The role demands flexibility with shifts, including the ability to work nights and weekends.
Airgas offers competitive pay, quarterly incentive bonuses, and a driver referral bonus program with no limits, aiming to reward dedication and commitment. The comprehensive benefits package is designed to support employees and their families, including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance coverage. Parental support benefits include a 14-week paid childbirth benefit. To ensure future security, Airgas provides a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time. Employees gain access to these benefits after only 30 days of employment.
This role is ideal for dedicated CDL A drivers looking for a stable career path with a reputable company that values inclusion, personal growth, and workplace safety. Airgas values the individual contributions of all employees and fosters an environment that encourages professional development and job satisfaction through competitive compensation and thoughtful benefits.
