Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a leading U.S. supplier of industrial, medical, and specialty gases along with hardgoods and related products. Forming part of a prominent global network, Airgas is distinguished as one of the largest suppliers of safety products and a top provider of ammonia products and process chemicals in the United States. With a team of over 18,000 dedicated associates, Airgas fosters a culture emphasizing safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. This culture empowers employees to share ideas, take initiative, and make decisions confidently. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide — a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare — Airgas operates in 60 countries with approximately 66,500 employees worldwide and serves more than 4 million customers and patients.
The company is currently hiring for the role of CDL A Hazmat Driver at their Augusta, GA location on Columbia Nitrogen Drive specializing in bulk cryogenic logistics. This employment opportunity offers a chance to earn upwards of $90,000 annually coupled with many attractive benefits including a $2000 unlimited driver referral bonus and quarterly incentive bonuses. The position entails nighttime and weekend schedules with the advantage of returning home daily, making it ideal for candidates seeking a balance between work and personal life.
In this role, drivers will operate commercial motor vehicles, specifically tractor-trailers, to transport and deliver compressed and liquefied industrial gases safely and punctually to customers or storage facilities. The driver must conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and identify any maintenance requirements. Reporting any accidents, injuries, safety issues, traffic citations, or customer complaints promptly to supervision is an essential part of the position, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies through accurate documentation and timely communication. The CDL A Hazmat Driver will play a significant role in upholding Airgas’ high standards for safety and customer service while contributing to the company’s operational success and reputation.
Ideal candidates for this position are 21 years or older and possess at least three years of tractor-trailer driving experience along with a Class A CDL that includes Hazmat and Tanker endorsements. Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, technical college or military technical experience, familiarity with cryogenic, compressed, and specialty gases, and three or more years of Hazmat or Tanker experience. This role offers a comprehensive family benefits package that supports the whole life of employees with health, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance plans. Additionally, Airgas supports families with paid childbirth benefits and promotes future security through a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Benefits eligibility begins just 30 days after employment.
Working at Airgas means joining a diverse and inclusive workplace that respects, honors, and values different backgrounds and perspectives, believing strongly that this diversity makes the team stronger and more innovative. The company is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing reasonable accommodations and fostering an engaging environment where employees' talents can be fully expressed and developed in alignment with the company’s fundamentals and goals.
