Job Description

Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a prominent supplier based in the United States specializing in industrial, medical, and specialty gases as well as hardgoods and related products. As one of the largest providers of safety products and a key supplier of ammonia products and process chemicals, Airgas operates throughout the nation with a workforce of approximately 18,000 associates. The company prides itself on fostering a culture centered on safety, customer success, sustainability, and innovation. Airgas’ collaboration with its parent company, Air Liquide, a world leader present in 60 countries, equips it with extensive resources and global expertise, serving over 4 million customers and patients worldwide. This international presence combined with a strong domestic network makes Airgas a leader in the industrial gases market.

The current opening is for a CDL A Hazmat Driver based in Dayton, Ohio, operating within Airgas’ Bulk Cryo Logistics division. This role is vital in ensuring the timely and safe delivery of compressed and liquefied industrial gases such as liquid nitrogen and oxygen to customers or storage facilities. Operating tractor-trailer combinations over long distances, the driver will need to demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, excellent customer service, and efficient handling of high-value and hazardous materials. As part of the role, the driver will conduct crucial pre- and post-trip inspections to identify maintenance needs, promptly report any incidents or service interruptions, and accurately complete all required regulatory and company documentation in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) standards.

The position requires night and weekend shifts, reflecting the continuous operational demands of Airgas in serving diverse industrial clients. Compensation includes competitive pay with added incentives such as a quarterly bonus and a $2000 unlimited driver referral bonus, highlighting recognition of the driver's valuable contribution to the company’s logistics network. Additionally, Airgas offers a comprehensive family benefits package featuring medical, dental, vision, life, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), and disability insurance to safeguard employees and their families.

Furthermore, Airgas supports its workforce's personal and financial growth by providing a 14-week paid child birth benefit, a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave. New employees gain early benefits eligibility, starting as soon as 30 days from hire, emphasizing the company's commitment to employee welfare and work-life balance.

Candidates for this role must be at least 21 years old with a minimum of three years driving experience with tractor-trailer vehicles, holding a Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements. Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, two years of technical college or military technical experience, and ideally three years of experience handling hazardous material or tanker operations. Airgas values diversity and equal opportunity, welcoming qualified applicants regardless of background and providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

Working at Airgas offers a rewarding and dynamic environment where employees' unique perspectives are respected and valued. The company fosters an inclusive culture that encourages idea sharing, initiative-taking, and decision-making to drive innovation and sustainable growth. By joining the Airgas team, drivers play a key role in ensuring that vital industrial gases are delivered safely and sustainably, contributing directly to the success and operational excellence of the company. This position not only supports career advancement in logistics and transportation but also aligns with Airgas’ commitment to employee development and workplace inclusion.
