The CDL-A Driver role at Vistar plays a vital part in the nation’s food supply chain by ensuring the timely and safe delivery of products to customers. Drivers are not only responsible for transporting goods but also serve as the face of the company, building lasting relationships with clients. Responsibilities include operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks on various routes such as intrastate, interstate, local deliveries, and over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and drive and drop operations. The CDL-A Driver must comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety guidelines, perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and handle all associated paperwork accurately. The role involves loading, unloading, and securing freight, maintaining vehicle safety standards, and ensuring effective communication with customers, vendors, and co-workers. Drivers must complete daily hours of service logs and participate in general housekeeping of the equipment and loading dock areas. This position demands physical capability, including the ability to hand-lift and use specialized equipment to move product cases typically weighing between 10 and 90 pounds.

Job Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
- Minimum 6 months of commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A license
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Compliance with all State licensing and certification requirements
- Clean driving record for past three years
- Successful completion of post offer drug test
- Clear criminal background check
- Successfully pass road test
- Possession or ability to obtain DOT Health Card
- Physical ability to hand-lift and use equipment for moving freight
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
- 6+ or 12+ months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move product cases/freight of varying size and weight
Job Duties
- Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Immediately reports all safety hazards and inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of loaded products and completes all required paperwork accurately
- Moves tractor to loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
- Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule and unloads products into designated storage areas
- Performs damage control checks on items, scans, contacts supervisor about removing orders, verifies delivery with customer and obtains signatures
- Collects money where required
- Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
- Unloads damaged goods and returns and completes necessary paperwork
- Completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log according to Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Performs general housekeeping duties and secures equipment at shift end
- Performs other related duties as assigned
