Job Description

Performance Foodservice (PFG) is a leading broadline food distributor renowned for its strong relationships with a diverse range of local customers. These customers include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. PFG’s dedication extends beyond simply delivering food products — their team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts collaborate closely with clients, offering strategic advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and other aspects of restaurant and food service management. This collaborative approach helps independent business owners thrive and achieve their dreams, making PFG a trusted partner in the food distribution industry.

PFG prides itself on maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful working environment where employees are recognized and rewarded for their contributions. The company is committed to providing competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, including day one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and opportunities for growth within the organization. As a broadline distributor, PFG plays an essential role in the food supply chain, supporting America’s food distribution system by ensuring timely and safe delivery of products to customers.

This position is for an entry-level Driver Trainee role designed to provide hands-on training and experience in operating a tractor trailer or straight truck for local, intrastate, or interstate routes. The training involves early morning dispatches on local routes from Monday through Friday with the employee returning home daily. Training includes pay at $25.02 per hour with boots and protective gear provided by the company for safety. The role requires learning to safely deliver various food and food-related products to customers while adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and safety standards.

The Driver Trainee will work closely with a driver trainer, assisting in executing deliveries, performing required safety checks, and participating in the loading and unloading of freight. The role emphasizes professionalism when interacting with customers, vendors, and coworkers to provide exceptional customer service and ensure deliveries are accurate and timely. The trainee will also be responsible for completing necessary paperwork, performing damage control checks, securing freight, and maintaining cleanliness in the tractor and trailer. By successfully completing the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program, the individual will gain essential skills and experience necessary for a professional driving career in the food distribution sector.

This position represents an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals seeking to begin or advance a career in transportation and logistics while contributing to an essential industry sector. With competitive pay and comprehensive benefits, along with a supportive work culture and clear pathways for career development, PFG offers a rewarding employment opportunity for entry-level drivers committed to safety, customer service, and teamwork.
