These customers include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on its dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts, all committed to building close relationships with clients. This team not only delivers exceptional food products but also offers valuable advice on enhancing operations, menu development, product selection, and overall business strategy to help independent restaurant owners and food service providers achieve their goals. Performance Foodservice stands out in the food distribution industry through its commitment to quality, customer service, and innovation, ensuring that every client receives the support and product excellence they need to thrive in a competitive market.
The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a vital position within the company's logistics and supply chain operations. This full-time position typically follows a Monday through Friday schedule with daily home time, offering a competitive pay potential of up to $90,000 annually. The CDL-A Driver is entrusted with the responsibility of safely operating tractor trailers or straight trucks to deliver food and food-related products across intrastate and interstate routes. This includes local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR) assignments, shuttles, and overnight or drive-and-drop routes. The driver acts as a crucial liaison between Performance Foodservice and its customers, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining the integrity of the food supply chain.
In this role, drivers must rigorously adhere to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, performing mandatory safety checks pre- and post-trip to inspect vehicles and trailers. Attention to detail is essential when verifying shipment accuracy, inspecting freight security, and completing all required paperwork accurately and legibly. Interaction with customers, vendors, and coworkers must be professional and courteous, as the driver represents the face of the company. Drivers are also responsible for unloading products, managing returns and damaged goods, and ensuring all equipment and trailers are secured at the end of each shift.
Performance Foodservice fosters a safe, inclusive, and engaging work environment where teamwork, respect, and recognition are prioritized. Further benefits include day-one health and wellness coverage, employee stock purchase plans, 401(k) employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. These benefits, combined with growth opportunities, make the CDL-A Driver position a compelling career opportunity for those interested in supporting America's food distribution system while enjoying a stable work-life balance and competitive compensation.
