Job Description
McLane Company, Inc. is a premier supply chain services company with over 130 years of industry leadership, specializing in delivering and distributing a vast array of products for some of America’s favorite brands. Founded in 1894, McLane has developed a robust nationwide network that serves various key industries including restaurant, retail, and e-commerce. As an innovator in the distribution sector, McLane continues to evolve by integrating the latest technology, enhancing team member training, and fostering a strong, people-centered culture. With a commitment to reliability, safety, and excellence, McLane has built a reputation for providing superior service and maintaining long-lasting relationships with clients and employees alike.
The role of a CDL-A Delivery Driver at McLane offers a unique opportunity to advance your career behind the wheel. This position is ideal for professional drivers who value a balance of career growth, competitive salary, and a safe, supportive work environment. As a CDL-A Delivery Driver, you will be entrusted with transporting goods safely and efficiently between distribution centers and affiliated warehouses. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, ensuring you get home on weekends to spend time with family and recharge. Driver compensation ranges from $95,000 to $125,000 per year, reflecting McLane’s dedication to rewarding experience and dedication. Beyond the financial benefits, McLane offers day-one benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts (FSA) or health savings accounts (HSA), and company-paid life insurance. Paid holidays, vacation time, sick leave accrual, and a 401(k) profit-sharing plan after 90 days are part of the comprehensive benefits package. Additional support comes through pet insurance, maternity/paternity leave, employee assistance programs, discount programs, and tuition reimbursement, further emphasizing the company’s investment in its drivers’ well-being and professional growth.
Drivers at McLane play a vital role in the supply chain process. As a CDL-A delivery driver, you will conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections of your tractor-trailer to ensure operational safety and compliance with Department of Transportation regulations. Your primary duties include hooking up your tractor to loaded trailers, delivering products from the Sidney, OH warehouse to affiliated warehouses, assisting with loading and sorting pre-palletized products, and maintaining accurate logs of your trips using manual or electronic logging devices such as PeopleNet. Routes typically last about 28 hours and an average of two routes are completed weekly. Around half of the time, drivers operate as teams and spend time in the berth, eliminating the need for ramp unloading. McLane provides late-model, well-maintained equipment, which helps maintain safety and efficiency in all driving assignments.
Candidates must meet McLane’s driving record and risk rating standards, possess a valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL-A), and have at least one year or 50,000 verifiable miles of tractor-trailer experience. The position demands the ability to read, write, and understand English sufficiently to follow job instructions and safety protocols effectively. Qualities such as safety focus, reliability, adaptability, and dedication are essential traits for success in this role. McLane welcomes candidates committed to safety and reliability and provides a work environment where these values are recognized and rewarded.
McLane is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and is committed to fair treatment in hiring practices. Candidates may be subject to background checks and drug screenings as part of the application process. For those seeking a lasting and rewarding CDL-A driving career, McLane offers the stability of a century-old industry leader combined with a modern, employee-focused approach that helps drivers move America forward, together.
