Job Description
McLane is an esteemed leader in the distribution industry with a remarkable legacy spanning over 130 years. Established in 1894, McLane has built a vast and dynamic nationwide network that serves a diverse range of sectors including restaurant, retail, and e-commerce industries. Known for its commitment to excellence, safety, and reliability, McLane has earned its reputation as a trusted partner in moving and supplying America's favorite brands. The company emphasizes a people-centered culture and continuously embraces new technology and extensive team member training to maintain its agile position in a competitive market. This rigorous dedication to professional growth and operational integrity makes McLane a standout employer within the logistics and transportation fields.
The role of a CDL-A Delivery Driver at McLane represents more than just a driving position—it is an opportunity to join a company where career advancement, job security, and attractive compensation are paramount. This full-time role involves operating tractor-trailers to deliver goods efficiently and safely while adhering to commercial driving regulations and company standards. Drivers at McLane enjoy industry-leading pay structures including component pay based on miles driven, stops, and cases delivered. Routes typically span a combination of local and multi-day trips with the inclusion of overnight shifts. New hires begin on the extra board schedule, working 4 to 5 day weeks with rotating assignments and designated days off, offering variety and work-life balance.
In addition to competitive pay, McLane provides a robust benefits package from day one. This includes medical, dental, and vision insurance; Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) options; and company-paid life insurance. Drivers earn paid holidays, vacation time, and sick leave accrual, supporting their wellbeing and personal time needs. After 90 days of employment, drivers become eligible to participate in the company’s 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan, helping secure their financial future. Additional benefits such as pet insurance, maternity and paternity leave, employee assistance programs, discount programs, and tuition reimbursement demonstrate McLane's commitment to supporting employees both personally and professionally.
Candidates for the CDL-A Delivery Driver position at McLane must meet specific qualifications to ensure safety, compliance, and effective job performance. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid CDL-A license, and possess at least one year or 50,000 verifiable miles of tractor-trailer driving experience. Meeting McLane’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and risk rating standards is mandatory. Proficiency in English—reading, writing, and comprehension—is essential to performing duties safely and efficiently, including understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications critical to the role.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, reliable, adaptable, and dedicated, traits that align with McLane’s core values. This position offers the chance to build a long-lasting and fulfilling career with a company that prioritizes employee well-being and operational excellence. In joining McLane, drivers contribute to a legacy of moving America forward—together.
