Job Description

McLane Company, founded in 1894, stands as an industry leader in the distribution sector with a rich history spanning over 130 years. As a crucial partner to many of America's favorite brands, McLane has built a robust nationwide network catering to restaurant, retail, and e-commerce industries. A key component of McLane's success is its people-centered culture and commitment to safety and reliability. They continually invest in the latest technologies and team member training to maintain their competitive edge and meet the evolving demands of their clients. With a foundation built on strong and secure client relationships, McLane ensures its workforce has the tools and support necessary to succeed in a dynamic marketplace. The company is proud to offer its employees a working environment that values adaptability, dedication, and a safety-first approach.

The role of a CDL-A Delivery Driver at McLane represents an excellent opportunity to grow your career in commercial driving while enjoying industry-leading pay and comprehensive benefits. Drivers at McLane are entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring timely and secure deliveries across various customer premises while adhering to stringent safety standards. This full-time position offers competitive compensation, with drivers making up to $120,000 annually, along with the potential for a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 based on experience. From the very first day, employees benefit from medical, dental, and vision insurance, company-paid life insurance, and access to flexible spending accounts (FSA) or health savings accounts (HSA). Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave accrual ensure that the company prioritizes work-life balance. After 90 days, drivers become eligible for the 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan, reinforcing McLane's commitment to its employees' long-term financial health. Additional perks include pet insurance, maternity/paternity leave, employee assistance programs, employee discounts, and tuition reimbursement opportunities.

As a CDL-A Delivery Driver, your daily responsibilities will span a variety of essential tasks. You will conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your tractor-trailer, submitting accurate Department of Transportation (DOT) inspection reports to confirm vehicle condition. Attention to detail is critical when verifying bills of lading and store keys for off-hour deliveries, ensuring accuracy to avoid delivery errors. On the road, your skills in maneuvering and compliance with commercial driving regulations directly impact the company's reputation for reliability and safety. Maintaining driver logs, either through manual entry or electronic systems like Peoplenet, ensures precise documentation of deliveries, temperature-sensitive products, and any exceptions encountered during your route. Upon arrival, unloading and securing products at customer locations demand professionalism and efficiency.

McLane seeks drivers who are not only skilled behind the wheel but who also embody the company’s core values of safety, reliability, adaptability, and dedication. The ability to read, write, and understand English proficiently ensures effective communication and compliance with job-related tasks, safety protocols, and operational standards. The company enforces rigorous motor vehicle record (MVR) and risk rating qualifications, emphasizing the importance of responsible driving. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, hold a valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL-A), and have at least one year or 50,000 verifiable miles of tractor-trailer driving experience. Background checks and drug screening will be conducted in accordance with applicable laws. McLane prides itself on equal employment opportunity, embracing diversity, and ensuring a non-discriminatory hiring process regardless of age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.

Joining McLane means becoming part of a team that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. The company’s emphasis on integrating cutting-edge technology and fostering a people-focused culture creates a supportive and progressive work environment. Drivers enjoy a healthy work-life balance, competitive wages, and numerous benefits that enhance their overall wellbeing. If you are a safety-focused, reliable, adaptable, and dedicated driver looking to take your CDL-A career further, McLane offers a unique platform to build a long-lasting and rewarding career in the transportation industry.
