Job Description

McLane Company is a leading player in the distribution industry with a rich history spanning over 130 years. Established in 1894, McLane has continually forged its path as a trusted partner for many of America's favorite brands across restaurant, retail, and e-commerce sectors. With a nationwide network of dedicated team members, the company is recognized for its agile approach, robust client relationships, and a strong people-centered culture. Embracing innovation, McLane integrates the newest technology into its operations and prioritizes ongoing team member training to maintain its status as an industry leader.

McLane is currently seeking committed and safety-conscious individuals to join its team as CDL-A Delivery Drivers. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range between $65,000 and $70,000 annually, with attractive benefits starting from day one. The role primarily involves operating tractor-trailers efficiently and safely to deliver products to customer premises, predominantly within the foodservice industry.

The CDL-A Delivery Driver position is designed for hardworking professionals who possess a valid Class A commercial driver's license and have prior tractor-trailer driving experience. Drivers begin their careers on an extra board system, with opportunities to bid on dedicated routes after six months. These routes generally involve dispatches between 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm, with shifts lasting 12 to 14 hours, five days per week.

Responsibilities include conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tractor-trailer, driving safely with a strong understanding of commercial driving regulations, maintaining accurate driver logs (via manual or Peoplenet systems), and executing touch freight deliveries using hand dollies. The job demands physical capability to unload freight at customer sites and attention to detail when checking bills of lading and store keys, especially during off-hour deliveries. Drivers play a critical role in upholding McLane's commitment to safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

McLane offers an extensive benefits package that supports the wellbeing and financial security of its drivers. From day one, team members receive medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with flexible spending accounts (FSA/HSA) and company-paid life insurance. Employees accrue vacation time, sick leave, and paid holidays from the start, emphasizing work-life balance. Additionally, a 401(k) profit-sharing plan becomes available after 90 days, enhancing long-term savings potential. Other perks include pet insurance, maternity and paternity leave, employee assistance programs, discount offers, and tuition reimbursement schemes.

The ideal candidate for this role will be at least 21 years old, possess at least one year or 50,000 verifiable miles of tractor-trailer driving experience, and meet McLane’s motor vehicle record (MVR) and risk rating qualifications. Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English is essential for compliance with safety and operational standards. Furthermore, McLane values safety-focused, reliable, adaptable, and dedicated individuals who are committed to moving America forward as part of a team.

McLane's inclusive hiring policy ensures equal consideration for all candidates regardless of age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status. Prospective employees may undergo background checks and drug screenings in line with applicable laws. If you're looking to advance your CDL-A career within a respected and forward-thinking company, McLane provides a nurturing environment with competitive pay, career growth opportunities, and robust support systems to help you succeed.
