The CDL-A Delivery Truck Driver role at Core-Mark plays an essential part in the country’s food supply chain by ensuring timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products to customers. This position involves driving tractor-trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments. With an average compensation starting at $75,000 per year, this full-time employment opportunity caters to candidates with a minimum of six months experience operating tractor-trailers. Drivers must be comfortable managing team routes and willing to take on at least two overnight stays per week, delivering approximately three dispatches per week.

The driver is the face of Core-Mark to its customers, fostering strong, lasting relationships through professional communication and outstanding service. Safety is vital in this role as drivers perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards. Tasks include inspecting freight securement, completing paperwork accurately, unloading products, handling returns, and securing equipment. Drivers also document hours of service and maintain cleanliness in their vehicle and work area to ensure compliance. Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have at least 6 months experience driving tractor trailers
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Meet all state licensing or certification requirements
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or secure valid DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and use equipment to move freight weighing 10-90 pounds
  • Must be ok running team routes
  • Must be ok with 2+ overnights per week
  • Willing to perform 3 dispatches per week

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience with tractor trailers
  • Valid CDL-A
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meets all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Passes post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Passes road test
  • Attains or has valid current DOT health card or able to secure new DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate or other equipment to move product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout shift

Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
  • Inspects tractor/truck and trailer to ensure company safety standards are met and takes appropriate action as needed
  • Reports all safety issues and repairs required
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately reports all safety hazards
  • Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of loaded products
  • Completes all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
  • Moves tractor to loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • Performs damage control checks on items and scans or contacts supervisor about removing orders per company policy
  • Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
  • Collects money where required
  • Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
  • Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and always secured
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
  • Performs daily record of hours of service and enters logs per Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Performs general housekeeping duties and keeps trailers clear and clean
  • Secures all equipment and completes necessary paperwork at shift end
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
