The role of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Core-Mark is essential in maintaining the integrity of the food supply chain across the country. Delivery Drivers serve a pivotal function by ensuring that food and food-related products arrive safely, punctually, and in excellent condition to the customers. Acting as the company's face, drivers cultivate lasting relationships with customers through professional interaction and reliable service. This position involves driving tractor-trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight runs. Delivery Drivers must comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations while performing pre-and post-trip safety inspections, reporting issues, and safely handling cargo.

This position offers competitive compensation, with pay ranging from $70,000 to $75,000 annually, starting at $22.50 per hour during training before transitioning to the supply chain management pay scale. The workweek is Tuesday through Friday, with dispatch times generally between 4 am and 6 am, and employees are home daily. As a Delivery Driver, responsibilities include performing thorough safety checks of vehicles and trailers, ensuring freight is properly loaded and secured, completing all required paperwork accurately, and reporting any safety or operational issues promptly. Drivers are also responsible for unloading products, verifying deliveries with customers, securing equipment and freight, and adhering strictly to federal, state, and company policies. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and move product cases ranging from 10 to over 90 pounds, utilizing equipment such as lift gates and two-wheelers. This position demands professionalism, attention to detail, and the capacity to work collaboratively within a team while upholding the highest standards of safety and customer service.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 6 months commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Meet state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean driving record for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test
  • Pass criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Valid or able to obtain DOT Health Card
  • Ability to lift and move product cases up to approximately 90 pounds using equipment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks, including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Report all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of loaded products
  • Complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
  • Move tractor to the loading dock and attach the preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
  • Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • Collect money (cash or checks) where required
  • Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and bring to driver check-in, completing necessary paperwork
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area, keeping trailers clear and clean
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log according to Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
