The role of the Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is integral to the success of the country's food supply chain. This position, based out of Omaha, involves ensuring that food and product deliveries arrive on time, in excellent condition, and are handled professionally, reflecting the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. The position pays $22 per hour during training with potential earnings estimated between $75,000 and $100,000 annually after component pay training completion. As a Driver Trainee, associates will participate in comprehensive training programs such as the Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program. Trainees will gain hands-on experience hauling freight and operating tractor-trailers under the guidance of experienced driver trainers. This on-the-job learning includes performing safety checks, following Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, inspecting vehicles and freight, logging hours of service, and ensuring paperwork accuracy. Safety is paramount in this role; drivers are expected to report any hazards immediately. Additionally, drivers manage responsibilities like loading and unloading products, verifying deliveries, collecting payments where necessary, and maintaining cleanliness in their vehicles and work areas.
