Job Description

Sysco Corporation is a global leader in foodservice distribution, operating approximately 333 distribution facilities worldwide and serving more than 700,000 customer locations daily. With a workforce exceeding 71,000 colleagues and a fleet of over 13,000 vehicles, Sysco provides an essential service by distributing food and related products to restaurants, healthcare and educational facilities, lodging establishments, and other customers who prepare meals away from home. Known for its commitment to excellence, Sysco emphasizes growth opportunities, professionalism, and outstanding customer service, making it a prominent employer in the foodservice industry.

The position available is a Tractor Trailer Driver role based in San Antonio at the US3089 Sygma location, part of The Sygma Network, Inc., a subsidiary of Sysco Corporation. This role requires a professional driver dedicated to the safe and efficient transportation of foodservice products from the warehouse to customer locations. The position has no assigned sales territory and involves no travel beyond the designated zip code 78218 area. The driver will operate well-maintained, automatic tractor-trailers delivering goods according to strict company and customer standards, ensuring product integrity and timely delivery. This role includes unloading products manually or using hand carts and ramps, with routes generally consisting of 3-4 deliveries per week, primarily overnight.

Compensation for this role is competitive, with yearly earnings ranging from $75,000 to $85,000 and potential earnings up to $100,000 annually. Employees receive weekly pay and are granted 10 paid holidays, which contributes to a balanced work-life schedule. Additional benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) plan; and the opportunity to participate in the Sysco Stock Purchase Plan, demonstrating the company’s investment in its team members' financial well-being.

This role emphasizes the importance of adhering to food safety protocols, vehicle maintenance requirements, and regulatory compliance including DOT and Hazmat guidelines. The driver must handle delivery duties in a variety of weather conditions and terrains while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. The job requires physical endurance as it involves lifting, pushing, and moving products up to 50 pounds by hand and pushing or pulling heavier loads with equipment like hand carts. The work environment involves overnight schedules, occasional exposure to extreme weather, and adherence to safety protections related to mechanical parts and confined spaces.

Sysco values the development of good customer relationships by providing excellent, courteous service and clear communication. Drivers are expected to maintain open communication with management regarding any route or product issues and demonstrate reliability through regular and predictable attendance. The position is full-time and may require working outside usual hours to meet customer demands, including weekends and holidays. Sysco is committed to diversity and inclusion, providing equal opportunity employment and reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities.

This role offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for individuals with a commercial driver’s license (Class A), a passion for safety, and a commitment to customer service excellence.
