The role of Tractor Trailer Driver at US3088 Sygma Detroit is a critical position responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of foodservice products from the warehouse to customer sites. This position involves operating a tractor-trailer unit to deliver and unload food and other goods according to customer invoices and company safety and quality standards. The driver is tasked with maintaining food safety protocols, accurately handling products, and ensuring all deliveries are completed in a timely manner following prescribed routes. Attention to detail is essential, as the driver must also manage paperwork including DOT logs, vehicle inspections, damage reports, and invoices.

In this role, the driver supports customers by ensuring products are delivered safely, stored properly, and handled with care to prevent contamination or damage. This includes working in various weather conditions and physical environments, using equipment such as hand carts and pallets, and developing strong customer relationships through courteous and clear communication. The position generally involves an overnight work schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to meet customer demands.

Candidates for the Tractor Trailer Driver role should possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License and be insurable to operate company vehicles. Previous experience driving tractor-trailers is preferred, along with the ability to read and communicate effectively in English, understand and comply with DOT regulations and Hazmat guidelines, and perform physical tasks including lifting heavy loads and safely operating equipment. This job demands high attention to safety, professionalism, and reliability.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent degree
  • Minimum 1 year tractor trailer driving experience preferred
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  • Insurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of employment
  • Ability to read and speak English sufficiently for communication and safety compliance
  • Ability to perform physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds and maneuvering hand carts
  • Willingness to work overnight, weekends, holidays and overtime as required
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and company policies
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent degree preferred
  • Completion of a tractor trailer driving school is accepted in place of a high school diploma
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License

Job Duties

  • Safely transport product from the warehouse to customer locations according to assigned routes
  • unload product by hand or using hand carts in all weather conditions and place in designated customer storage areas
  • pick up, load and unload damaged goods and customer returns and transport back to warehouse
  • complete all paperwork including DOT logs, inspections and maintenance reports accurately and timely
  • maintain food safety protocols and sanitary conditions in tractor, trailer and warehouse
  • follow preferred work methods and report unsafe conditions immediately
  • develop and maintain good customer relationships through excellent service
  • communicate any route deviations or product issues to management
  • work assigned schedules including overnight, weekends and holidays as needed
  • perform other duties as assigned by management
