The role of a Tractor Trailer Driver at US3088 Sygma Detroit is integral to maintaining this robust distribution network. This position involves the safe and efficient transport of products from the warehouse directly to customer locations. Drivers are responsible for timely deliveries while adhering to company standards and customer specifications. The role requires physical endurance and attention to safety protocols, as unloading goods can include manual handling, use of hand carts, and working in various weather conditions. Additionally, the driver will manage logistics such as loading and unloading damaged goods or customer returns, ensuring these are transported back to the warehouse appropriately.

Attention to detail and regulatory compliance is a significant aspect of this role. Drivers must complete all necessary paperwork accurately and promptly, including Department of Transportation (DOT) logs, vehicle maintenance reports, and delivery invoices. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent degree
  • 1 year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred
  • Completion of tractor trailer driving school accepted in lieu of diploma
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  • Ability to read, speak, and write English
  • Insurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of employment
  • Ability to lift and move products weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to operate assigned equipment
  • Meet DOT regulations and safety standards
  • Ability to work overnight, weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Regular and predictable attendance

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent degree
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  • Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to communicate and understand traffic signs
  • Experience driving tractor trailers preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and Hazmat guidelines
  • Ability to operate tractor-trailer, straight truck, on board computer, and hand carts
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to perform basic math functions
  • Ability to work independently and organize work activities effectively

Job Duties

  • Safely transport product from the warehouse to customer location according to assigned route
  • Unload product from trailer by hand or using hand cart in all weather conditions and place in designated customer storage areas
  • Pick up, load and unload damaged goods and customer returns, transporting products back to warehouse
  • Complete all required paperwork including DOT logs, inspections, vehicle maintenance reports, and delivery invoices accurately and timely
  • Ensure food safety protocols are met including proper temperatures and sanitary conditions
  • Follow preferred work methods and report any unsafe conditions immediately
  • Develop good customer relationships through excellent service and clear communication
