In this role, the Tractor Trailer Driver will serve as a critical link in the supply chain, ensuring efficient, safe delivery of products from the warehouse to customer locations. This position requires a qualified driver who takes pride in following safety regulations, maintaining equipment, and delivering outstanding customer service. Candidates will be entrusted with transporting products accurately and timely, adhering to specified routes, unloading merchandise carefully, and handling product returns. The driver will be responsible for complying with food safety protocols and maintaining sanitary conditions in both vehicles and storage areas. This job also demands strong communication skills, as drivers must report issues and deviations to management teams and maintain good customer relationships. This role involves working under varying environmental conditions, including all weather scenarios, while handling physical tasks such as lifting, moving heavy items, and maneuvering product-loading equipment.
The position typically operates on an overnight schedule that may include weekends, holidays, and overtime to meet customer needs. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- One year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred
- Completion of tractor trailer driving school accepted
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse, understand traffic signs, respond to inquiries, and make entries on records
- Must be insurable to operate a vehicle
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 350 pounds with two-wheeled hand cart
- Ability to sit, talk, hear for extended periods
- Willingness to work overnight, weekends, holidays, overtime, and variable start times
- Physical ability to climb in/out of tractor and trailer, reach, bend, twist, and adjust vision as required
- Ability to work safely with hazardous materials and food products
- Ability to maintain sanitation and food safety standards
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Completion of tractor trailer driving school preferred
- One year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
- Ability to read, speak, and understand English
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, Hazmat guidelines, safe lifting and delivery practices
- Skill in driving in various terrains and weather, communicating with customers, solving problems, delivering product
- Ability to safely drive tractor-trailer day and night, handle hazardous materials, operate related equipment, perform basic math, plan and organize work independently
- Meet or exceed company productivity standards
Job Duties
- Safely transport product from the warehouse to customer location on assigned route
- Unload product by hand or with hand cart in various conditions and place in designated areas
- Pick up, load, and unload damaged goods and customer returns
- Complete all paperwork including DOT logs, inspections, vehicle maintenance reports, pre and post-trip reports, and invoices
- Ensure food safety protocols are met and maintain sanitation in tractor and trailer
- Follow preferred work methods and report unsafe conditions
- Maintain assigned equipment and provide excellent customer service
- Communicate with management regarding route, loading issues, or product concerns
- Safely transport backhaul and line haul pickups to company warehouse
- Work assigned schedule including overnight, weekends, and holidays
- Perform additional duties as assigned
