The role of the Delivery Driver at Sygma Carolina involves safely and efficiently transporting products from the warehouse to various customers. Operating tractor-trailer units, drivers are responsible for delivering and unloading products according to customer invoices and company standards. This job requires physical stamina, attention to safety protocols, and excellent customer service skills. Drivers must complete necessary paperwork, maintain proper food safety standards, and foster positive relationships with customers. The work environment includes varying weather conditions and the physical demands of loading and unloading products by hand or with a hand cart. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • One year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred
  • Completion of tractor trailer driving school acceptable as equivalent or in addition to diploma
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Must be insurable to operate vehicle
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations
  • Knowledge of Hazmat guidelines
  • Ability to drive tractor-trailer in various conditions
  • Ability to lift, push or move product up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 350 pounds with hand cart
  • Ability to read, speak and write English
  • Meet physical demands of the position
  • Willingness to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent degree, plus 1 year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred
  • Completion of tractor trailer driving school accepted as equivalent or addition to high school diploma
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations
  • Knowledge of Hazmat guidelines
  • Skill in long-distance driving over various terrains and weather
  • Skill in communicating with customers
  • Ability to operate 3 axle tractor, 45'-48' trailer, straight truck, onboard computer and hand cart
  • Ability to read, speak and write English sufficiently for communication and record keeping
  • Ability to perform basic math functions
  • Ability to plan and organize work independently
  • Ability to solve problems

Job Duties

  • Unload product from trailer by hand or hand cart down ramps, stairs, or docks in all weather conditions and place in designated customer storage areas according to specifications
  • Ensure completion of all paperwork according to company and governmental guidelines including DOT logs, inspections, maintenance reports, invoices, and damage reports
  • Maintain food safety protocols including proper temperature control, product inspection for damages, prevention of cross-contamination, and sanitary conditions in tractor and trailer
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with customers by providing excellent and courteous service with clear communication
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
