The CDL-A Driver role at PFG Customized Distribution is essential in supporting the country’s food supply chain by delivering high-quality food and food service products safely and on time. This position involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes, including solo and team routes with out-of-state layovers occurring twice weekly. Drivers will operate newer automatic trucks and engage in ramp work, touch freight handling, and mixed pallet breakdown. In this capacity, drivers are not only responsible for the transportation of goods but also act as the face of the company, developing lasting relationships with customers. The role requires strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations along with internal safety policies, ensuring all safety checks, vehicle inspections, and paperwork are completed accurately and punctually. Drivers are tasked with professional communication with customers, vendors, and coworkers to provide excellent service and support the company’s operational goals. From loading dock duties to freight security, product unloading, and verifying deliveries, operators maintain a high standard of responsibility and organizational skills throughout their shifts. This position requires physical endurance as the role involves lifting, utilizing equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates to move products ranging from 10 to 90 pounds.
