Job Description
PFG Customized Distribution is a prominent player in the food distribution industry, meeting the unique demands of some of America’s most well-known national chain restaurants such as Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday’s, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Ruby Tuesday. The company focuses on providing customized attention and centralized communication for product line management, menu updates, and account coordination, serving customers not only across the United States but also in more than 40 countries. As a trusted name in the food service industry, PFG Customized Distribution partners closely with its clients to ensure seamless delivery and supply chain support, strengthening the overall foodservice experience.
The role available is for a Driver, Formula CDL-A, a key position within the company’s logistics and distribution operations. This role operates with a mix of solo and team routes potentially involving out-of-state layovers twice per week, emphasizing the dynamic and broad nature of the position. Drivers will work with newer trucks and equipment that are all automatic, engaging in ramp work, touch freight handling, and managing breakdown mixed pallets, reflecting the demanding and varied nature of the job. The position offers a competitive weekly minimum pay of $1,540 when on route, along with substantial benefits including day one health and wellness coverage, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and growth opportunities within a safe and inclusive work environment.
Food and food service delivery drivers hold a critical responsibility in maintaining America’s food supply chain. Beyond ensuring timely and intact deliveries, these drivers act as the face of the company, fostering lasting relationships with customers. The Driver, Formula CDL-A, is responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments. Compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations is paramount to this position, along with performing necessary safety checks on trucks and trailers, managing customer orders accurately, and taking prompt action to resolve any safety concerns or delivery issues.
Drivers are expected to communicate effectively and professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers while functioning as cohesive team members within the organization. They must ensure freight security and accuracy, complete all required paperwork meticulously, and execute loading and unloading duties efficiently. This role demands physical agility to handle product cases usually weighing between 10 to 35 pounds and occasionally heavier cases ranging up to between 60 and 90 pounds. Attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and maintaining clean and organized equipment and workspaces are critical elements of the daily responsibilities. Additionally, drivers must properly document their hours worked, uphold all company and federal guidelines, and contribute to the organization’s culture of rewards, respect, and recognition. This position represents an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build a meaningful career in logistics within a reputable and growing food service distribution company.
