The CDL-A Driver position is vital within PFG Customized Distribution as these drivers serve as the crucial link in the supply chain, delivering food and foodservice products safely and efficiently to customers. This role requires driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes, including over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive and drop routes. The typical routes span 3 to 4 days, and the position demands availability for overnight shifts, with the benefit of being home weekly. The CDL-A Driver is not only responsible for the timely delivery and unloading of goods but also acts as the face of the company by building lasting relationships with customers and ensuring high service standards.

Safety and compliance are top priorities in this role. Drivers perform all required safety checks according to Department of Transportation regulations, ensuring the tractor, trailer, and freight meet all safety standards before and after trips. They must adhere to DOT guidelines and company policies for safe driving, report any safety hazards immediately, and maintain accurate records including hours of service logs. The job entails verifying and securing freight, conducting damage control on delivered products, completing all necessary paperwork diligently, and performing general housekeeping duties in and around the vehicle and loading docks.
