The Driver, Hourly CDL-A position at Core-Mark is a critical role within the food supply chain, responsible for operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks to deliver food and food-related products safely and timely. Located in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, this role involves intrastate and interstate driving on routes that typically span 2 days with 2 overnights weekly. The work schedule is a four-day week, Monday through Friday, with dispatch times between midnight and 4 a.m., designed to balance efficient delivery operations with driver home time. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be 21 years or older
- Valid CDL-A license
- Meet state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report for the past three years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attain or have valid DOT Health Card or be able to obtain one
- Able to hand-lift and operate equipment to move product cases of varying weights throughout a shift
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid CDL-A license
- Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attains or holds valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases or freight of varying size and weight
- Preferred onboard computer and electronic log system experience such as PeopleNet
- Preferred hand-held point of delivery scanning system experience such as POD
- Preferred customer service-related work experience
Job Duties
- Performs all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor, truck, and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- Reports all safety issues and repairs required
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Immediately reports all safety hazards and inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of loaded products, completes required paperwork accurately
- Moves tractor to loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
- Drives and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route schedule, unloads products and transports items to designated storage areas
- Performs damage control checks on items, scans products, contacts supervisor about order removals according to policy
- Verifies delivery with customer and obtains signatures, collects money where required
- Loads customer returns and secures trailer doors, ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured
- Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
- Completes daily record of hours of service and logs in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area and secures equipment at end of shift
- Performs other related duties as assigned
