This position is for a full-time Hourly CDL-A Driver at Core-Mark, where drivers are central to the operation’s success. The role entails driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries. Drivers will be responsible for delivering and unloading food and related products to customers safely, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. With schedules from Monday through Friday, shifts run between 10 to 12 hours mainly starting from dispatch times between 2 pm and 7 pm. The company offers competitive pay where drivers can earn between $70,000 to $75,000 annually, plus a significant $7,000 sign-on bonus as an incentive to join the team.

The role demands professionalism, involving frequent communication with customers, vendors, and coworkers to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. Drivers are responsible not only for safe driving but also for performing safety inspections, maintaining accurate records, and handling paperwork related to deliveries. They must verify shipments upon delivery, secure trailers, load and unload products, and handle returns and damaged goods with care and according to company policies. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Minimum one year experience driving tractor trailers
  • Meet state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past three years
  • Pass drug and background checks
  • Pass road test
  • Possess or obtain DOT Health Card
  • Ability to lift and move product cases weighing between 10-90 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • One or more year of experience driving tractor trailers
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report for past three years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Inspect tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and report issues
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately report all safety hazards and inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of loaded products
  • Complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately
  • Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unload products from trailer and transport items into designated customer storage
  • Perform damage control checks on items, scan and contact supervisor about removing orders
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain signatures
  • Collect money where required
  • Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
  • Perform daily records of hours of service and enter logs as per DOT and company requirements
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock, and keep trailers clear and clean
  • Secure all equipment and complete paperwork at end of shift
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
