Job Description
US Foods is a leading food service distributor in the United States, renowned for its commitment to quality, reliability, and exceptional customer service. With a strong presence across the nation, US Foods partners with restaurants, healthcare facilities, and other food service operators to supply high-quality food products and innovative solutions. The company prides itself on fostering a supportive work environment that emphasizes employee growth, internal promotion, and comprehensive training. By focusing on continuous improvement and operational excellence, US Foods has established itself as a premier employer in the food distribution industry, dedicated to serving its customers and communities with integrity and professionalism.
We are currently seeking dedicated and motivated individuals to join the US Foods team as Drivers. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a respected company where your role is vital in maintaining smooth and timely delivery operations. As a Driver at US Foods, you will be responsible for safely navigating delivery routes, ensuring timely arrival at customer locations, and handling the accurate unloading and placement of food products. This position offers a Monday through Saturday schedule, with typical start times between 3 AM and 6 AM, reflecting the early shifts necessary in the food distribution sector to meet customer demands. You will initially work from our current location, with relocation to Aurora, IL planned for mid-2026.
This role demands a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and customer service. You will perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to guarantee the safety and compliance of your delivery vehicle. Additionally, you will engage directly with customers, verifying deliveries, obtaining signatures, and occasionally managing payments or collections. Physical stamina is essential, as the job requires routinely lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling loads ranging from 20 to over 80 pounds throughout each shift. Working in various weather conditions and making frequent stops (10 or more per shift) demands resilience and a customer-focused attitude.
Successful candidates will possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with the necessary endorsements, at least six months of commercial driving experience (with three months preferred in the food and beverage sector), and be at least 21 years old. Registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse is a mandatory requirement for this position. Fluency in English is required for effective communication. Candidates familiar with operating manual transmissions will have an advantage, as this skill may be needed depending on location.
Compensation is competitive, with base pay ranging from $35.89 to $39.88 per hour, dependent on experience, location, and skills. US Foods offers a comprehensive benefits package that may include health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, short and long-term disability insurance, an employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance. Working with US Foods means joining a team that values integrity, reliability, and the importance of each associate's contribution to the company’s ongoing success and community impact. Join us to advance your career as a professional driver with a recognized industry leader.
