Job Description

US Foods is one of America's leading foodservice distributors, dedicated to delivering quality products and exceptional service to restaurants, healthcare facilities, and hospitality businesses across the United States. With a robust network of logistics and supply chain capabilities, US Foods plays a vital role in the foodservice industry by ensuring timely deliveries that help customers meet their operational goals. The company emphasizes a culture of integrity, collaborative spirit, and service excellence, which are central pillars of their work ethic and customer relationships. They offer opportunities for skilled, forward-thinking associates who are committed to safety and customer satisfaction.

The role of a US Foods driver is critical to the company’s success, as drivers are often the face of US Foods for their customers. This position offers a competitive hourly wage with top earners averaging $45 per hour, along with a $5,000 retention bonus for new hires, which reflects the company’s commitment to attracting and retaining skilled drivers. The work schedule typically runs from Sunday night through Friday, with occasional returns on Saturday mornings. Drivers have the option of 4 or 5-day workweeks, providing flexibility with 2 or 3 days off during the week. The majority of routes dispatch between 10 pm and 3 am, requiring the ability to operate during late-night hours. Additionally, drivers must be willing to perform team routes and layover routes as needed.

Responsibilities for this role include driving trucks safely to customer locations, carefully unloading products using equipment such as two-wheelers and pallet jacks, verifying delivery accuracy, handling collections when applicable, and maintaining professional customer service at all times. Safety is paramount, with requirements to perform pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections. Physical demands include lifting and moving heavy products repeatedly during shifts and working in varying weather conditions.

Candidates must be registered with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, be at least 21 years old, hold a valid CDL Class A license with endorsements and DOT qualifications, and possess adequate commercial driving experience either generally or specifically in food and beverage delivery. Preference is given to candidates comfortable with manual transmissions. US Foods values clear communication skills, as drivers need to read traffic signs, engage effectively with customers, and maintain accurate records.

US Foods offers comprehensive benefits that support their drivers’ health, financial well-being, and work-life balance. These include health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, disability insurance, employee stock purchase options, and more. The company fosters a supportive environment where drivers can thrive both on and off the road, helping them build long-term careers within the foodservice distribution industry. US Foods is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values diversity and inclusion in their workforce.
