Job Description

US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor that has built a strong reputation for providing high-quality products and services to a diverse range of customers, including restaurants, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and hospitality businesses. With decades of experience in the industry, US Foods prides itself on innovation, reliability, and fostering a supportive environment for its associates to thrive. As one of America's largest foodservice distributors, US Foods delivers fresh, frozen, and dry food products along with kitchen equipment and supplies, helping customers achieve success in their businesses. The company's commitment to excellence extends beyond products, placing a strong emphasis on safety, sustainability, and fostering community connections.

The position of a US Foods Driver is essential to the company’s mission, acting as one of the vital links between the distribution centers and the customers who rely on timely delivery of their foodservice products. The role is a full-time driving position with compensation depending on relevant experience and education, geographic location, specific skills, and job function. The training base rate starts at $24.87 per hour, after which drivers receive pay based on miles driven, cases delivered, and stops made. Overtime compensation is also applicable. US Foods offers flexible work schedules with either 4 or 5-day workweeks, providing drivers with two or three days off during the week. Most routes dispatch between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m., with the schedule typically from Sunday night to Friday, occasionally including Saturday mornings. Drivers may be required to take on team routes and layover routes as needed.

The role involves safely driving trucks to customers and ensuring deliveries are made on schedule while maintaining professional customer service standards. Drivers are responsible for unloading products carefully using equipment such as pallet jacks or by hand, verifying delivery accuracy, obtaining signatures, handling collections when applicable, and performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections of their vehicles. Physical demands include lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 20 to 80 pounds of product repeatedly during a shift, and working under various weather conditions with frequent stops.

Candidates must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid CDL Class A license issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications. They should have a minimum of six months of commercial driving experience or three months specifically in food and/or beverage delivery. Familiarity with operating manual transmissions is preferred and may be mandatory depending on location. All drivers must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, ensuring safe and responsible driving conduct.

Joining US Foods means becoming part of a team that values integrity, reliability, and community spirit. The company offers a range of competitive benefits including health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement plans, paid time off, disability insurance, an employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance. US Foods supports their drivers both on and off the road, recognizing their critical role in the overall success of the company and its customers. This is a rewarding opportunity for skilled, motivated drivers seeking steady employment with a renowned company known for its dedication to service and employee satisfaction.
