The company prides itself not only on delivering high-quality food products but also on providing expert guidance and support through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other specialists. These professionals work closely with customers, offering valuable advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and operational strategies to help independent restaurant owners and other clients achieve their business goals. This holistic approach distinguishes Performance Foodservice in the food distribution industry by combining reliable supply chain delivery with tailored customer service and strategic consulting.
The company fosters a work environment that values safety, inclusivity, and recognition, ensuring employees feel respected and rewarded for their contributions. Benefits start from the first day of employment, including health and wellness programs, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, reinforcing the company’s commitment to employee well-being and growth. Additionally, Performance Foodservice is an equal opportunity employer that upholds strong EEO policies to provide a fair and equitable workplace for all employees regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics.
The CDL-A Driver role is an extraboard position requiring travel to cover paid time off or call-offs, with mileage, per diem, and hotel expenses covered by the company. The position offers an attractive average annual pay exceeding $114,000 and includes benefits from day one, free uniforms, and an annual safety boot allowance.
The CDL-A Driver plays a critical role in America’s food supply chain by ensuring timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks to perform intrastate and interstate deliveries on various routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive-and-drop runs. This position demands strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies to guarantee the protection of goods and personnel. Drivers are the face of the company to customers, responsible for representing Performance Foodservice’s reputation by delivering excellent customer service, fostering strong customer relationships, and supporting operational excellence.
Daily responsibilities include conducting safety inspections of vehicles and trailers, performing count and condition checks on products, handling deliveries and returns, completing accurate documentation, and maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in work areas. Drivers must be able to safely handle freight ranging in weight typically from 10 to 35 pounds, sometimes up to 60 to 90 pounds, using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates. They must also manage paperwork related to freight, report safety hazards, and complete hours of service logs consistent with federal and state regulations.
This role requires professionalism, teamwork, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety and customer satisfaction. The company supports drivers’ success through training, various employee benefits, and opportunities for growth within the food distribution industry. By joining Performance Foodservice as a CDL-A Driver, individuals contribute directly to one of America’s essential infrastructures, ensuring that food reaches communities reliably and efficiently while advancing their careers in a supportive and rewarding work environment.
