Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor dedicated to serving a diverse range of customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on building close-knit relationships through a team of experts such as sales representatives, chefs, and consultants who provide valuable guidance in improving operational efficiency, menu development, product selection, and overall business strategies. Performance Foodservice not only delivers high-quality food products efficiently but also supports independent restaurant owners in achieving their long-term goals and enhancing their businesses. This commitment to excellence has established the company as a trusted partner within the food distribution industry across the United States.

The role of CDL-A Driver at Performance Foodservice is a pivotal position within the company’s logistics and delivery operations. This position is classified as an extraboard role, meaning the driver will be required to travel and cover paid time off (PTO) and call-offs across various locations. The company provides coverage for mileage, per diem, and hotel accommodations to support these travel requirements. With an average annual pay exceeding $114,000, this role offers competitive compensation paired with immediate eligibility for benefits from day one of employment, including free uniforms and an annual safety boot allowance.

As a CDL-A Driver, you will be responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks to transport food and food-related products both intrastate and interstate. The routes include local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR) trips, shuttles, overnight drives, and drive-and-drop assignments. Following all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety guidelines, you will ensure timely, safe delivery of goods while maintaining the equipment to the highest standard. As a frontline representative of Performance Foodservice, the role requires strong customer service skills to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers.

Key responsibilities include performing pre- and post-trip inspections, conducting safety checks, reporting any maintenance issues promptly, and ensuring the security of freight during transit. Accurate completion of all required paperwork and invoices is essential, as is the ability to handle customer returns, collect payments, and perform damage inspections on deliveries. The physical demands of the job include the ability to hand-lift freight ranging typically from 10 to 35 pounds, and at times up to 60 to 90 pounds, while also utilizing equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates to move and stack loads. Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment by performing housekeeping duties in the tractor and docking area is also expected.

Performance Foodservice fosters a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture where employees are recognized and rewarded for their contributions. The company offers robust benefits such as day-one health and wellness plans, employee stock purchase options, 401K employer matching, education assistance programs, and paid time off. Additionally, drivers have opportunities for growth within a vital sector that supports America's food supply chain. This CDL-A driving position is ideal for dependable and dedicated individuals who value safety, service, and teamwork in their careers within the food logistics industry.
