The Food and Food Service Delivery Driver role is essential to Performance Foodservice’s operations, playing a pivotal part in the nation’s food supply chain. This position involves driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on local, intrastate, interstate, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes with reliability and safety. Drivers deliver and, when necessary, unload food and related products to customers, ensuring that deliveries are completed on schedule and in excellent condition. The delivery driver is the face of the company, tasked with building positive, lasting relationships with customers through professional communication and service. Key responsibilities include performing comprehensive safety inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, accurately managing delivery paperwork, securing freight, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the vehicle and delivery areas. Working typically 4-5 days per week with shifts averaging 10 to 12 hours, drivers are scheduled with split days off and will dispatch between midnight and 5 AM based on their assigned routes. This position requires physical capability for lifting and handling freight ranging generally from 10 to 35 pounds and potentially up to 60 to 90 pounds depending on the location, as well as dexterity with equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates. Job Requirements
- Valid CDL A
- 12 months commercial driving experience
- High school diploma or GED or state approved equivalent
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Must be 21 years of age
- Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Valid current DOT health card and/or able to secure new DOT health card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift

Job Duties
- Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner
- Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company
- Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation regulations
- Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of loaded products
- Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- Unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
- Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- Collects money (cash or checks) where required
- Loads customer returns on to trailer and secures trailer doors
- Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured
- Completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
- Secures all equipment and completes necessary paperwork at the end of the shift
- Performs other related duties as assigned
